LDPA District Ministry/Coordinator (Interim)

We are seeking an interim/acting District Ministry/Coordinator to be employed on a one-year contract. This is offered as either a full-time post or as a job share, preferably starting in September 2026.

Ideally, LDPA Council is looking for the interim role to be undertaken by one person. However, to allow scope for the widest possible field of candidates and flexibility, Council is open to the role being undertaken by two people and, while preferable, the requirement to be on the GA Ministerial Roll is not be essential. Key to success will be their experience, credibility, skills and knowledge. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

Job Description

  • Commission and write articles to promote LDPA programmes through the quarterly issues of IMPULSE, the district magazine, and EPULSE, the monthly digital newsletter, working in partnership with the District Administrator on their production. Visit https://www.ldpaunitarians.org/newsletters

  • Support and attend FUSE (Festival of Unitarians) to be held in November, and help plan the next event in 2027. Visit https://www.ldpaunitarians.org/fuse2026

  • Plan and develop Pocket FUSE events in February, May and August and work with the District Administrator to promote

  • Make at least one contact with each of our 25 LDPA congregations per month by visit, email, or telephone communication

  • Lead worship as invited by congregations within the LDPA District. Attend the inductions of new ministers and significant events in the life of LDPA congregations

  • Plan and organize the LDPA’s AGM for March/April

  • Provide a written report to the council prior to bi-monthly meetings. Schedule, send invites, and prepare agenda for these online council meetings in September, November, January, March, May and July

  • Communicate with LDPA council between meetings as necessary or required and follow up on tasks generated at council and administrator meetings

  • Provide small grants to congregations upon request and approval in collaboration with the Finance Officer and a designated member of the council

  • Provide Sustentation grant administration and the LDPA link with Unitarian Trusts

  • Mediate or help make arrangements for external mediation where conflicts occur within congregations to help facilitate their resolution and/or achieve ‘good' partings

  • Manage the LDPA team of District Administrator and Finance Officer

  • Communicate with the GA, including promoting work/events in the LDPA district.

Consultation process
This interim role is to allow a period of reflection and consultation which will enable the council to identify the current and future ministerial requirements of the district. A survey will be emailed to LDPA congregations seeking feedback and comments.
