Our District Minister

The District Minister is Rev’d Jim Corrigall, who works in support of ministers and leaders of the 25 congregations that make up the London and South East District of Unitarian and Free Christian Churches. This District stretches on the west from Oxford to Brighton, and on the east from Colchester to Dover.

Rev’d Jim’s work includes providing guidance and financial support to congregations, supporting publicity and publications, and organising District-wide events of a spiritual, religious and cultural nature. The largest of these is the annual Festival of Unitarians in the South East (FUSE). In early June 2023, the first ‘in-person’ Festival for three years took place over a weekend at a retreat centre in Kent.

Biographical background
Rev’d Jim Corrigall became District Minister in June 2021 after five years as minister to three congregations in Lancashire. Before that he was a minister for two years in Suffolk, following ministerial training at Harris Manchester College in Oxford.

His first career was journalism, and this included 17 years at BBC World Service in London. Jim was an active trade unionist and he served as President of the National Union of Journalists in 2004/5. Originally from South Africa, he was involved in the struggle against apartheid for many years.
