About Unitarians
Unitarian congregations offer a liberal religion that is open hearted and inclusive. The roots of our faith are found in liberal Christianity, but we have broadened to seek inspiration from many faith traditions and from the arts and sciences.We welcome to our services people of all faiths and of no faith, including those with questions and doubts. All are welcome!
What do Unitarians do in the World?
Unitarians have historically had an impact on social and political reform far greater than our numbers would suggest. Unitarians have been pioneers in the fields of social justice and equality. We were the first denomination to ordain women as ministers and the first to ordain openly gay men and women. Among the issues the Unitarian denomination continues to take a lead on are gay and lesbian rights, animal welfare and penal reform.
Unitarianism is a Liberal Religious Faith
Unitarians are religious people, heirs to a 400-year tradition rooted in the Radical Reformation and Enlightenment dissent. Unitarian congregations offer worship services which draw inspiration from a wide range of sources. We believe that while each individual spiritual journey is unique, together we can journey towards wholeness.
What We Believe
Our London and South East District is a constituent part of the General Assembly of Unitarian and Free Christian Churches, whose stated purpose (Object) is: “To promote a free and inquiring religion through the worship of God and the celebration of life; the service of humanity and respect for all creation; and the upholding of the liberal Christian tradition.”
